RASP History and Status
Established in 1997 under Albanian law, RASP is a specialized non-profit organisation.
The mission of RASP is to stimulate opportunities for rural people to improve their livelihoods and reduce poverty, by making best use of natural, cultural and human resources to achieve sustainable development:
RASP fulfils its mission by:
- Helping to form and strengthen voluntary associations and other forms of civil society organization, which can represent and serve rural people. Developing capacity for constructive lobbying and influencing of decision-makers by rural groups, in order to improve policies and services that can affect their livelihoods.
- Strengthen the role of women to identify their problems, the factors influencing that, and the approach towards the solution. Empower women for a better position /standing in family and society aiming to reach the equality with men. Actively involving women and youth in decision-making and participation.
- Playing an active role in the preservation of natural resources, biodiversity of plants and animals, and researching methods for their sustainable use. Adding value to locally-available materials and products and facilitating access to markets.
